Benjamin S. Mackoff

After serving the last ten years of his 23-year judicial career as Chief Presiding Judge of the Cook County Circuit Court Domestic Relations Division, Mr. Mackoff joined Schiller DuCanto and Fleck LLP to head its Family Mediation Services and Continuing Legal Education programs. A former state prosecutor and Administrative Director of the Circuit Court, he has taught at local law schools and national seminars on trial advocacy, alternate dispute resolution and family law. He has served as a member of many advisory committees and has been a consultant to the legislature, the courts and various legal organizations. Mr. Mackoff was chair of the Illinois Supreme Court Study Committee on Mediation in Domestic Relations Cases and chair of the Illinois State Bar Association's Task Force on the Family, for which he received its prestigious Board of Governors' award. He has served on the faculty of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy, on the board of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, and as president of the National Association of Trial Court Administrators. He is a board member of the Mediation Council of Illinois, for which he received the Illinois Mediation Council of Illinois Service Award for 2002, and has been appointed from Illinois to the House of Delegates of the American Judges' Association. He has also been designated by the Cook County Circuit Court as an approved Child Representative.
Recently, he was appointed by the Illinois Legislature to the Illinois Family Law Study Committee to recommend changes to Family Law statutes. Also, he was appointed by the Chief Judge of the Circuit to recommend improvements in the Domestic Violence Court Study Committee (2008 – ). http://www.sdflaw.com/?t=3&A=1065&format=xml
